The Multi-Ethnic Counselling Service 

How can I make a referral to the Multi-Ethnic Counselling Service (for myself or for someone else)?

If you require mother tongue counselling and you / your referral is a Lambeth resident or registered with a GP in Lambeth, you will need to contact Lambeth IAPT to be referred to our MECS service. Phone: 0203 228 6747 Email: lambethiaptadministrators@slam.nhs.uk

How long will my counselling at MECS last?

The sessions are time-limited, sessions take place at the same time every week. You may be offered 6 – 12 sessions of counselling.

How much are the sessions for MECS clients?

 There will be no charge for the sessions.

What languages are available at MECS?

Mother-tongue counselling is provided in the following languages: Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Farsi, Farsi (Dari), French, Hindi, Italian, Kurdish, Mandarin, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Tigrinya, Turkish, Twi and Urdu.

Can I access a copy of my notes?

As a client of Waterloo Community Counselling you are entitled to recieve a copy of an attendance letter with the details of your sessions with us. You are also entitled to recieve a copy of assessment notes, if you were offered one by our service. 

We charge £18 for a copy of attendance letters and £25 for the assessment notes.
